May The Fourth Be With You, Almost

Willett has a tradition of wearing Star Wars related gear on May 4th each year. This year, May 4th lands on a Saturday. For this reason, we will move “May the fourth be with you” up to May 3rd which is next Friday. I am inviting all students and staff to wear Star Wars related apparel to school to honor this tradition. Please, no blasters or light sabers. Thank you

The Strings Assembly Was Fantastic

On Wednesday our Strings students put on two fantastic assemblies for our students and staff. They played with all their hearts and their devotion to their instrument made them sound amazing. Mr. Tan and Ms. Cooley did a wonderful job preparing and leading the students through their performance. The spring concert is coming up next month on May 8th at 7:00 p.m. at Brunelle Theater at Davis High School. Please come support our musicians!

Lost And Found

Our lost and found is overflowing now that the weather is warmer. On average, I am picking up 5-10 jackets per day. Please ask your child to swing by the lost and found during lunch to find any lost items. Our next assembly is May 3rd when classes will walk through lost and found. Anything left over will go to donation so please send your children through before it is too late.

i-Ready And CAASPP Testing

As we move through April and May, i-Ready diagnostic testing and CAASPP state testing will be administered. The best ways you can support your students during testing includes the following:

  1. Set a bedtime to ensure your child has enough rest to come in with a strong mind.

  2. Monitor online time to ensure that digital burnout does not affect testing.

  3. A balanced breakfast each morning keeps energy levels up. Students can also take advantage of our second breakfast at first recess.

  4. Positive reinforcement works wonders in keeping testing anxiety down and positive self-esteem at a high.

ECE facilities at Willett

On April 8, 2024, DJUSD will present a placement proposal for Early Childhood Education (ECE) requisite facilities at Willett Elementary. Public feedback is instrumental in informing our decisions. To finalize site plans for ECE facility construction at your neighborhood school, we invite you to attend an additional public outreach opportunity.

The DJUSD Bond Team welcomes families, staff, neighbors and friends for two meeting opportunities on Monday, April 29, to learn about potential revisions and provide feedback on this important project.

Bike Rodeo

The City of Davis Police are hosting a bike rodeo at our school as part of our school’s bicycle skills program. With the help of volunteers, they will be conducting a Bike Rodeo on May 22nd. The bike rodeo is a simple and fun activity to teach your child important bicycle safety skills. The event consists of a number of stations that allow your child to learn and practice proper bicycling skills. In order for your child to participate, the following is required:

  • You must review, sign, and return the release form which will be sent home with students in the coming weeks.

  • Children must bring their own bike, wear a bicycle helmet and shoes that fasten, no flip-flops allowed.

Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!
