Willett MPR with students and families at science night

Science Night Was A Huge Success

Thank you to the Willett PTA and parent volunteers for hosting and supporting this event. It was a huge turnout with students excited and engaged in various science experiments. PTA was instrumental in bringing this event to our campus and I can not thank them enough for their support.

The deadline for poetry contest submissions for grades 3-6 is Monday. Please have your student drop off their submission in the box outside the library.

Mr. Simi And Lunchtime Activities

Mr. Simi has been running activities for students at Willett all this year during lunch time. This opportunity has given many students the chance to try out a sport, or play inside games that have provided access and belonging. If you have a chance, please give Mr. Simi a thank you as I know students are truly enjoying the opportunities he is providing.

i-Ready And CAASPP Testing

As we move through April and May, i-Ready diagnostic testing and CAASPP state testing will be administered. The best way you can support your students during testing includes the following:

  1. Set a bedtime to ensure your child has enough rest to come in with a strong mind.

  2. Monitor online time to ensure that digital burnout does not affect testing.

  3. A balanced breakfast each morning keeps energy levels up. Students can also take advantage of our second breakfast at first recess.

  4. Positive reinforcement works wonders in keeping testing anxiety down and positive self-esteem at a high.

ECE facilities at Willett

On April 8, 2024, DJUSD will present a placement proposal for Early Childhood Education (ECE) requisite facilities at Willett Elementary. Public feedback is instrumental in informing our decisions. To finalize site plans for ECE facility construction at your neighborhood school, we invite you to attend an additional public outreach opportunity.

The DJUSD Bond Team welcomes families, staff, neighbors and friends for two meeting opportunities on Monday, April 29, to learn about potential revisions and provide feedback on this important project.

Bike Rodeo (Update)

The City of Davis Police are hosting a bike rodeo at our school as part of our school’s bicycle skills program. With the help of volunteers, they will be conducting a Bike Rodeo on May 22nd. The bike rodeo is a simple and fun activity to teach your child important bicycle safety skills. The event consists of a number of stations that allow your child to learn and practice proper bicycling skills. In order for your child to participate, the following is required:

  • You must review, sign, and return the release form which is available in the front office.

  • Children must bring their own bike, wear a bicycle helmet and shoes that fasten, no flip-flops allowed.

Take advantage of this wonderful opportunity!
