Band Starts This Week

Ms. Sanchez and Ms. Cooley will start Band classes this week. 5th and 6th grade students who signed up will begin their instruction in the music room today. We look forward to this wonderful enrichment.

Soda/Candy

In an effort to promote healthy eating habits, we ask that students not bring sodas to school for lunch. We also ask that students not bring candy to school to distribute as this can be a huge distraction and causes waste to be left on the blacktop and fields.

Emergency Communication Test This Week

Each year, DJUSD performs a test of the Emergency Communication System. The school district will send out a TEST of our Emergency Communication System to the phone numbers, emails and mobile numbers (via text) for parent/guardian contacts for each of our students. The purpose of that “Test Message” is to ensure our parent community understands how, and in what form, they will receive messages in the event of a real emergency and to identify potential gaps in emergency data that can then be addressed in advance of a possible urgent event.

Opt in to Text Messages for Text Messaging from DJUSD

If you are new to our school or the school district, or you haven’t already opted in to receive District text alerts, please consider doing so by texting Y or Yes 67587 from a mobile phone number on record with your student information (on record with our office/included in your online re-enrollment). Learn more about District Emergency Text Alerts and Text Messaging at http://www.djusd.net/txtmsg

Save the DJUSD Auto-Call System Number to Your Favorites

As a reminder, all important automated school communications and emergency alerts sent through our SchoolMessenger system will be sent from the number 1-877-539-7855.  If you call this number back, you are able to access any recent messages sent to you.

We encourage you to save this number in your Contacts or Caller ID as DJUSD Info/Alert. By doing this, you will recognize a DJUSD emergency alert or important message being sent to your phone from our school or school district.

If you have any questions, please contact our office, or reach out directly to the DJUSD Public Information Office at [email protected].

Pictures Day Is Coming In October

This year, picture day will take place on October 2nd. Picture day information, online ordering, and the customer advocate team are all available at mydorian.com. Search for Robert E. Willett Elementary, and click on the green order button or yellow help button associated with our picture day. You can order online now and for up to four days after picture day.

Here are some helpful tips to make picture day great!

  • Schedule haircuts 7-10 days prior to picture day.

  • Wear simple clothing. Solid shirts or small patterns, along with sleeves, photograph best.

A simple collared shirt is a timeless classic.

  • Avoid logos and text on clothing. Graphics or wording may not photograph completely and can become partially cropped out of your picture.
