Short Week For Students Next Week

Next week, school will be in session Monday through Wednesday. Thursday is a teacher workday and Friday is Veteran’s Day so there will be no school in session on these days.

Conference Week Starts November 13th

Parent teacher conferences will take place the week of November 13th. This is a critical time to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss their progress so far this year.

TK/Kindergarten classes have shared their schedule with their parents. 1st-6th grades will go to school from 8:30-12:10 during conference week. Lunch will be available daily from 12:10-12:40 for any students wishing to have a school provided meal. All students not enrolled in an after-school program must be picked up at the end of the day at 12:10 or at the end of the lunch period at 12:40. Students enrolled in an after-school program will be transferred over once their lunch period has ended and the after-school program begins.

If you have any questions, please reach out to our front office.

Thank You PTA For Supporting Art

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank the Willett PTA for their unwavering support of programs for all students at Willett, specifically Art. For the first time since I have been at Willett, PTA funding, along with Prop 28 will allow us to provide Art classes at every grade level at our school. PTA funding has provided this support for many years and it shows the dedication and the hard work that goes into fundraising for such a program. A tremendous thank you to the Willett PTA and all the families who donate time and resources to the school.

Youth Truth Survey

The Youth Truth Student Survey is an opportunity for students to share feedback about their overall experiences at school. Student perceptions are linked to academic outcomes, so this type of data can be critical for school improvement. It’s not only the right thing to ask students for their feedback, it’s also the smart thing. Teachers of 3rd-6th grade students will be administering the Youth Truth Survey in the coming days until November 17th. The survey data will be used by our climate committee and site council to determine next steps in supporting all students in their academic, socio-emotional, and school culture needs.

Parents, you also have access to complete the parent version of the survey. Please use this link (ytsurvey.org/djusdfamily23) to access the parent survey.

Thank you for allowing your voices to be heard.

No Math Club During Conference Week

Due to the adjusted conference schedule with early release, Math Club will not meet on Tuesday, November 14th. All students who participate will go home at the early release time of 12:10.

Silent Auction

Please consider participating in the Willett PTA auction starting next week. For more information, scroll down to the PTA news to hear more.

Personal Electronics

We have had an increase in students bringing their cell phones/personal devices to school and using them in non-academic ways during the school day. Please remind your student to put these devices away during the day. If they need to reach you while attending school, all they need to do is request to go to the office to contact their parents and our front office staff can assist them. Cell phones that are used during the school day for gaming, social media, etc., can be confiscated and returned to students and/or parents at the end of the day. Please support us in managing cell phones and usage.

Public Outreach for Solar Implementation at Willett Elementary

Design planning is now under way for solar implementation at Willett Elementary School. The installation of photovoltaic solar panels is a key step in our effort to expand renewable energy sources in DJUSD and at your neighborhood school site.

Please join the DJUSD Bond Team on Monday, November 13, for two meeting opportunities to hear about these changes and share any input or thoughts you may have about this solar project. Families, staff, neighbors and friends are all invited.
